Student Project Assignment | Redesigning a Wafer Processing Machine

System Design, (opto-) mechatronics, precision mechanics, dynamics & control, cleanliness, embedded software and data.science in Nijmegen

Why are we looking for you

Development & Engineering location in Nijmegen is an organization of approx. 45 employees that  (co-) develops industrialized mechatronic and opto-mechatronic systems. These multi-facetted machines require strong cooperation between the D&E project members and our specialized manufacturing companies. This results in open and interactive work environment where you’re not bound to your own discipline and are encouraged to branch out and explore opportunities. This way of working enables D&E to find a unique balance between complexity and project size that is optimally suited for the analytical, semiconductor, life sciences, and digital printing industries.

NTS is currently redesigning a wafer processing machine in order to achieve the desired cost price target. In this project, currently 15 NTS engineers are working to achieve the customer’s goals. The project is a cooperation between the NTS location in Nijmegen and the NTS factory in Singapore. For this machine a student project will start in September 2020 to study and implement cost reduction opportunities for this machine. In this student project the complete design process will be in the scope.

The major process steps are:• Generate new ideas to achieve the cost down potential.• Verify the ideas on feasibility and decide with NTS team which ideas to implement.• Work out (selected part of) the ideas in detail in 3D and 2D drawings.
