Why are we looking for you
NTS develops, produces, assembles and tests complex (opto-)mechatronic systems and mechanical modules for large, high-tech machine manufacturers (OEMs). As a first-tier systems supplier, we focus on companies active in markets with high levels of product diversity, low volumes and high complexity, such as the semiconductor, lifesciences and digital printing markets, in which precision, actuation in multiple degrees of freedom and cleanroom manufacturing are paramount.
At NTS Development and Engineering (D&E) we want to execute a student project to improve the quality of the dynamic system identification of a Qualification tool that is being used in volume production at one of NTS factories for the qualification of a mechatronics precision product. Starting point of the student assignment is that the existing filtered noise excitation gives too noisy results around critical frequencies and no indication on coherence is provided.
What will you be doing
In this challenging assignment you will work together with the multidisciplinary NTS engineering team on a real customer product to realize the cost price targets to bring direct value to the customer and NTS.
The student project has following objectives:
- Study the current setup, make yourself familiar with it, and sharpen the problem statement.
- Create a proposal to improve the set up. Goal is that the improved qualification tool will be able to determine whether the dynamics performance of the mechatronics product is within specifications set by NTS customer.
- Write a script in Python to control the set-up and write analysis software in Matlab.
- Demonstrate the improved functionality of the tool to your stakeholders.
- Document and train away the new functionality to NTS manufacturing personnel.
Because you are part of a multidisciplinary project team, the execution location of this project is at our D&E location in Eindhoven. Coaching and supervision is provided from this site.

What skill do you have
- MSc Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics with a course in System Identification. Hands-on experience with Python and Matlab
- As a person, you are pro-active, eager to learn and a self-starter
