NTS-Group expands significantly in Asia

The NTS-Group based in Eindhoven has acquired two companies, one in Singapore and one in Suzhou (China), from the Asian group HFB Ltd. Both companies will continue operations as 100% subsidiaries as “NTS Components Singapore” and “NTS Components Suzhou”, respectively. The acquired manufacturing companies are well-known in Asia as highly reputed suppliers of sheet-metal work to international machine builders in the high-tech industry.

Marc Hendrikse, CEO of the NTS-Group: “The combination of opto-mechatronic systems development and assembly, including the manufacture of related critical components under own management, has turned out to be extremely successful in Europe. The acquisition of these two companies means we can now offer customers with business locations in Asia exactly the same comprehensive package of services that we provide in Europe”.
In addition to the acquisitions, the NTS-Group will set-up a mechatronic assembly company in Singapore, “NTS Mechatronics Singapore”, to be able to do this. This company will take on the engineering and assembly of modules in the region and will work closely with NTS Components Singapore.

The markets that both Asian companies currently serve match the international markets in which NTS specializes: healthcare, semiconductor, analytical equipment, digital printing and solar. The acquired companies in Singapore and Suzhou have a great deal of experience in producing and coating precision-engineered frames and covers. Furthermore, the Singapore-based company is specialized in the final machining of large frames and has in-depth knowledge of and experience in co-designing and assembling mechanical-engineering modules. The acquisitions represent an important step in the NTS-Group's strategy of further expanding its leading position as an international system supplier.

Acquisition enables further growth
Both companies employ over 100 people. Together with the start-up of the assembly plant in Singapore, this will increase the NTS-Group's total workforce to more than 1000 people. The management of both companies will join NTS and will be strengthened with European specialists from the present NTS organization.

Marc Hendrikse: “We expect the expansion of our activities for customers based in Asia to generate new work opportunities for our European companies, especially in the areas of engineering and prototyping. We have observed increasingly more often that large, internationally operating OEMs are seeking out supply partners that can provide and carry out work in the same cluster on different continents. Simultaneously, our Asian customers' demand for service is also growing, which is why it is good to have a high-quality local NTS subsidiary nearby.”
